Garage and Concrete Floor Coating Questions
What people ask us
How do I keep a new epoxy garage floor from peeling?
Peeling usually starts with a damp or dirty slab, so good prep matters most. After the work, sweep often and wipe up spills. Say you pull in on a wet winter day. Squeegee the meltwater off. Use a mild cleaner, not harsh acids. Ask the provider for care steps in writing.
How much does a garage floor coating cost?
Typical U.S. prices run from a few dollars to well over ten dollars per square foot. The range is wide because slab condition, crack repair, coating type and floor size all change the job. A two-car garage can land anywhere from a modest sum to several thousand dollars. Always get a written quote from the provider before work starts.
What should I expect on the day of the work?
A provider usually grinds the slab, fills cracks, then rolls on the coating in layers. Your garage will be out of use for a while. Plan to park elsewhere and keep pets and kids away. The provider will tell you when it is safe to walk and drive on it.
Is epoxy or polyaspartic better for my garage?
It depends on your needs. Epoxy is a common choice and gives a thick, glossy look. Polyaspartic often cures faster and handles sunlight well. Say your garage gets strong afternoon sun. That may point one way. Ask the provider to explain the tradeoffs for your slab.
Are coated floors slippery when wet?
A smooth coating can get slick with water or oil. Many providers add a fine grit or texture to help with grip. Ask for it, especially if you walk in with wet boots or park wet cars. Wipe up puddles quickly to stay safe.
How often should I clean and check a coated floor?
Sweep or dust mop weekly and wash with mild soap and water every month or two. Wipe up oil, salt and spills soon. Once a season, look for chips, lifting edges or dull spots. Small fixes are easier than big ones, and a provider can help if you spot damage.
Does a coated floor help my home's value?
A clean, even floor can make a garage or basement look cared for, which buyers notice. It can also help a home show well at resale. Results vary by market, so treat it as one part of keeping the house in good shape.
Does Representationplant Floor Coating do the floor work itself?
No. Representationplant Floor Coating is a referral service. We connect homeowners with independent local providers in the Annapolis area, and those providers do the prep, coating and any repairs. You can request an estimate with no obligation, compare what you hear, and ask each provider about materials, curing time, upkeep and written terms before you decide.
